       In modern society, the inventions of the visual media provide us with a variety of entertainments, which means that people can always find what they like on the TV and movies. However, they sometimes have many negative effects as well. As a result, TV programs and movies become the inventions that parents most frequently grumble about since TV and films bring some increasingly serious problems on children.

       First, children who have a strong attachment to TV programs often suffer some health problems, such as overweight and near-sighted. When children take lessons in school, they need to be fixed on their seats and listen carefully to their teachers for hours. If the entertainment at their leisure time is mainly watching TV, they would have far less time to do some physical activities like playing basketball or baseball. Such sedentary lifestyle would expose them to the danger of obesity and myopia. Moreover, the food advertised on TV programs always tempting to children whereas they usually contain little fiber and much calories. Depending on these food too much can definitely cast a counterproductive effect on children's health.

       Second, an individual in his early age is susceptible to the violent and pornographic scenes on TV programs and movies. The children might conduct some delinquency by imitating the violent episodes. In addition,the children might misunderstand the content on TV and movies. It probably cause that they learn to smoke and drink just because they believe that doing the same things which actors did in the movies is quite awesome. There is an authentic example, a month ago, I read a news about a child jumped from tenth floors in an apartment due to the reason that he totally believed that he would not die since he saw that the hero in a science fiction movies jumped from a building and came back to life afterward in mint condition.Therefore, the negative influences from the movies cannot help the young children to build a correct concept of what they should do or not.

       Finally, spending too much time on TV and movies would jeopardize the grades of a child at school. The priority for a child is to learn basic knowledge for their future academic life. However, a child addicted to the TV programs might sacrifice his time for homework on watching some unnecessary moives. Besides, he probably could not concentrate on his school due to thinking the plots of the movies. In consequence, a clever child might not be able to get a grade equaled with his intelligence.

       To sum up,although some people would hold the idea that children can touch the various cultures and expand their horizons by watching movies and TV. It is absolute that children would gain more potentially negative effects than the benefits. Hence it is intelligent for me to support my original idea.
